Jose Mourinho offered record high contract deal to take over Manchester United job according to reports

Jose Mourinho is being linked with a monstrous £60million over three years deal, as the next Manchester United coach to take over from Louis Van Gaal this summer.

Louis Van Gaal's uncertain future at the club is the worst kept secret in fotoball at present with very few willing to predict that he will retain his position at the end of this season.

The financial offer on the table for Mourinho would make him the highest paid manager in the history of the sport, according to The Sun. The 45-year-old was sacked from the Chelsea club just before Christmas, following a nose dive run of form following their Premier League win from the previous season.

To put Mourinho's prosective earnings into context, Pep Guardiola has signed a £15m annual salary with Manchester City, £5m less than what United are willing to pay Mourinho every year.

No formal agreements have been arranged between the Portuguese and the Manchester club but reports say that a verbal promise is in place.
