SOCCER

Following Real Madrid's exit from the Champions league Gareth Bale says he will get over a tough season.

A 1-1 draw at home to Juventus last night means they crashed out 3-2 on aggregate.

Bale's been jeered by fans at times this season - and he told Sky Sports News, he'll get over a difficult second season in Madrid.

Later tonight, the Europa League finalist will also be decided.

Sevilla appear to be on-course for a place in the final as they will travel to Fiorentina with a 3-0 first-leg lead.

But it's delicately balanced in the other semi-final, which is tied 1-all between Dnipro and Napoli going into tonight's contest in Ukraine.

Both matches will kick-off at 8:05pm.

Late last night, the Irish womens team defeated Haiti 1-0 in Florida.

Ruesha Littlejohn scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to give Sue Ronan's side the win.

RUGBY

Ireland and Munster second row Paul O'Connell has been voted the Players Player of the Year.

The Ireland second row received the prize at the Hibernia College IRUPA Awards in Dublin last night.

Connacht's Robbie Henshaw was voted the Nevin Spence Young Player of the Year.

Leinster's Daragh Fanning received the Unsung Hero award while Connacht's Michael Swift received the Medal for Excellence.

GOLF

Miguel Ángel Jiménez will be looking to defend his Spanish Open title this week in Spain.

The veteran Ryder Cup star is part of the field in Barcelona, which also features Irishmen, Damien McGrane, Peter Lawrie and Michael Hoey.

Later this evening, Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington are both in the field at the Wells Fargo Championship at the Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina.
