SOCCER

Jack Grealish is expected to be called into the Irish squad today by manager Martin O'Neill.

According to the Irish Independent, O'Neill will name the Aston Villa player in his squad for the friendly against England and Euro qualifier with Scotland in Dublin next month.

The 19 year old has played at under 21 level for Ireland but is now attracting interest from England.

In the Premier league, an inspired display by Swansea keeper Lukas Fabianski helped the Welsh side defeat Arsenal at the Emirates.

Bafetimbi Gomis scored the only goal five minutes from time.

Wenger said Fabianski played well, but also felt his strikers were also at fault.

In the SSE Airtricity League, Cork City beat Drogheda 4-1 at Turners Cross with Billy Dennehy scoring a hat trick for the Leesiders.

In Richmond Park it finished scoreless between St Patrick's Athletic and Shamrock Rovers.

Later tonight, Barcelona will look to secure their place in this season's Champions League final.

After Lionel Messi's inspirational performance last week, Barca hold a commanding 3-0 lead after the first-leg of their semi-final against Bayern Munich and the German league leaders will be hoping to make home advantage count for tonight's return leg.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm.

GAELIC GAMES

The recent news that a fringe member of the Monaghan senior football squad has failed a test for a banned steroid has ignited a debate about the level of drug testing in the GAA.

Inter-county players are now being asked to undergo blood testing as part of the Irish Sports Council's anti-doping code.

But Professor Niall Moyna of DCU believes that doping is not a major concern for the GAA.

HORSE RACING

There's racing today in Limerick and in Killarney.

The action begins in Limerick where a seven-race jumps card begins at 2pm, while the last day of Killarney's three-day May festival takes place this evening with a seven-race Flat card which begins at 5.40pm.
