Lionel Messi's Barcelona team mate Javier Mascherano has praised the Argentine for another stunning display last night.

The attackers two late goals combined with a Neymar strike gave the Catalans a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in their Champions League semi final first leg at the Camp Nou last night.

It's reported that James McClean could be on his way to join Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle in MLS.

Accoring to the Star he will go to the USA next week with at least two clubs interested in the winger who was recently relegated to League One with Wigan.

HURLING

Limerick will face Cork in this year's Munster Minor Championship semi-final.

They recovered from three points down at half-time to beat Waterford by 0-18 to 1-10 at Semple Stadium in Thurles to win their play-off tie.

In the Leinster Minor Football Championship Kildare held-off a strong-finishing Offaly side to claim a 14 points to 13 win at O'Connor Park.

Kildare will now meet Laois in the quarter finals after Laois were comfortable 5-13 to 1-13  winners over Wicklow at O'Moore Park.

GOLF

World number one Rory McIlroy will play alongside Masters champion Jordan Spieth and Australia's Jason Day this evening for their opening round at The Players Championship at Sawgrass.

The world's top players have travelled to Florida in search of a share in the 10-million dollar prize fund on offer.

Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell, Shane Lowry and Darren Clarke are also part of this week's field.
