The Final Whistle: Kilkenny and Tipp show their hands

GAELIC GAMES

Brian Cody has named his starting XV for Sunday's Leinster Hurling semi-final with Wexford.

Despite retirements, and talk of transition, there are only three changes from the side that started last year's All-Ireland final replay.

Captain Joey Holden starts at full-back in place of the retired JJ Delaney.

Walter Walsh comes in for John Power at wing-forward, and the injured Richie Power is replaced by Ger Aylward at corner-forward.

John O'Dwyer has been passed fit to start at corner-forward for Tipperary's Munster semi-final with Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

The man they call Bubbles has shaken off an ankle knock.

James Barry has also recovered from hip surgery to take his place at full-back, while Kieran Bergin starts at wing-back.

Ciaran Brady gets a first Championship start in Cavan's round 1A qualifier with London tomorrow afternoon.

Killian Clarke returns from injury to take his place at corner-back.

GOLF

A double-bogey at the 14th set back Shane Lowry's cause on Day 2 of the US Open, but he birdied the final hole to finish on level par, heading into the weekend.

Henrik Stenson and Dustin Johnson both started the Day 2 action at 5-under par.

Earlier, they were joined at the summit by Jordan Spieth, whose 67 leaves him in the clubhouse on 5-under.

RACING

Ryan Moore made a piece of history today.

His victory aboard the Aidan O'Brien-trained Aloft in the Queen's Vase meant he became the first jockey to ride nine winners in one Royal Ascot meeting.

Moore nearly broke that record an hour earlier, but was beaten into second aboard Found in the Coronation Stakes, today's feature race.

French raider Ervedya claimed the big one at a price of 3/1.

CRICKET

There was no play possible in tonight's cricket Twenty20 match between Ireland and Scotland.

Rain meant the game at Bready was abandoned.

Scotland lead the series 1-0 ahead of the third and final contest at the same venue on Sunday afternoon.
