Young players with winning mentality boosting Roscommon - Cathal Cregg

Roscommon forward Cathal Cregg believes the winning mentality forged at underage level is having an impact at senior level now.

The Rossies beat Down to claim the Division 2 crown as they prepare for the Connacht championship and life in the top tier of the Allianz Football League next year.

Cregg joined us on Off The Ball with ex-Mayo manager James Horan (who also analysed Dublin v Cork) and the Western Gaels clubman highlighted the mentality.

"We've had good U21 teams over the last four or five years. We had a core of senior players in the 2010 team but we have three or four very good young players coming into this panel every year and it's strengthening the panel all the time. We're lucky that all them lads are very good players with very good attitudes so everyone is pushing each other on and it's improving everyone the whole time," he said.

"They've won a number of minor titles, U21 titles, a lot of them lads have gone to college at DCU and won Sigersons."
