'Cork had the defensive structure and discipline'

Sunday's hurling saw Cork gain some manner of revenge on Clare in a 2-23 to 2-18 victory.

The Rebels now advance to a Munster semi-final against Limerick on July 13.

Ger and Diarmuid were joined by Christy O'Connor on the line and the former hurler believes that Cork were the better team describing them as "faster and hungrier".

He was also surprised by Clare's relative lethargy.

"They looked a bit flat,. There was no real energy. You associate Clare with pace and panache but that was missing from their game yesterday," said O'Connor, also praising the organisation of Cork's defensive structure.

"The big thing for Cork was that they had that structure and discipline," he said, adding that the crucial part was the way they prevented Clare's "big guns" from exerting their influence.

O'Connor and Diarmuid also discussed Tony Kelly's positioning on the field, the performance of Colm Galvin and Cork's success in midfield.
