'Christmas at Croke Park is an experience you will never get again' | Dub's Siobhan McGrath

Dublin footballers Carla Rowe and Siobhan McGrath spoke to OTB Sports after Dublin’s TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football semi-final victory over Armagh on Saturday.

The Dubs are heading into yet another All-Ireland final after beating Armagh 3-13 to 3-08 in Cavan.

Rowe suggested that the win has been building over the last couple of weeks and that it is great that they have peaked at the right time heading into another final.

“We are delighted,” Rowe said. “We have been simmering away nicely there over the last couple of weeks and the performances just haven’t been happening in the matches.

“We definitely saw more times of that today in the game where we clicked and we played the way we wanted to, so we are just glad to be back in Croke Park.”

After a strong start by Dublin, Armagh managed to claw their way back into the match a number of times; every time Dublin went ahead, Armagh were able to get back in it.

“That is going to happen with the best teams,” Rowe said. “You are not going to just get a quick start and be let to run through the rest of the game.

“We knew Armagh would come back; it is something we have to look at and make sure the next day if that happens, we minimise the scores that they get back up on us.”

With 2020 being such a difficult year for everyone, Rowe is particularly looking forward to celebrating Christmas with an All-Ireland final.

“[We have] no preference [between Cork and Galway]; we will eagerly await that one too.

“It is an experience like you will never get again; you have to think of [anything] this year as a positive.

“Being in Croke Park at Christmas is a nice thing to have in front of you.”

For teammate McGrath, having a final in Croke Park this time of year is the ideal way to bring in Christmas, but they won’t be taking it lightly.

“We have got a lot of work to do. We have got three weeks to put the foot to the ground and fix what we need to fix.

“We are coming out here, whether there are spectators or there are not spectators, it is an All-Ireland final at the end of the day; we are just delighted that we are in it.”
