Evander Holyfield open to third meeting with old foe Mike Tyson

Evander Holyfield is not ruling out an exhibition bout with his former heavyweight title rival Mike Tyson.

Speculation continues to mount that the pair whose combined age is 110 may be set to square off for the third time.

Tyson's made no secret about his return to training, and recently said he would be open to participating in some exhibition contests.

57-year old Holyfield has also been posting about a comeback on social media, writing on Twitter last week: "I'm ready to return to the ring. Are you ready for my comeback?"

Holyfield's last competitive fight came with a TKO victory over Brian Nielsen in Copenhagen in 2011.

While four-years Holyfield's junior, Tyson has been even longer away from competitive action. It was June of 2005 when the former WBC, WBA and IBF world champion lost a sad affair to Kevin McBride.

Holyfield and Tyson twice in 1996 and 1997, with Holyfield winning on both occasions. The second of those victories came when Tyson bit a chunk out of his opponent's ear.

"I wouldn't ask nobody to do anything they don't want to do. But it's for charity," Holyfield told Sky Sports News when asked about a third Tyson bout.

"If we can work something out that works for everybody then it's a win-win-win."

Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn has described a potential Holyfield-Tyson III encounter as "intriguing".

When asked about potentially promoting such an event, Hearn told Sky Sports, "We all know my head can be turned for a few quid!

"You saw my KSI vs Logan Paul fight which I got stick for, but it was a roaring success and I really enjoyed it. It taught me a lot."

The Matchroom chief promoted two boxing matches between YouTubers Logan Paul and KSI (Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji).

"I expect him to come back in some sort of exhibition, or something like that. Is that good or enjoyable? I suppose it's intriguing", Hearn said of Tyson.

"Tyson looked fantastic on the pads but he's 53. Look at his last fight against Kevin McBride. He won't be able to compete at [a high level].

"It's good to see him training. He's in great shape. If it keeps him happy then why not keep training? I wouldn't like to see him fight in the ring professionally."
