Alan Brogan has been hailed as "one of Dublin's greatest forwards ever"

A former team mate of Alan Brogan has described the 33-year-old as "one of Dublin's greatest forwards ever".

Collie Moran was speaking to Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan after Brogan announced his retirement from inter county football. He ended his career in the sky blue of Dublin as an All-Ireland winner after coming off the bench against Kerry in the All-Ireland Final in September.

"He was just a class act", according to Moran, when Brogan made his intercounty debut. He helped Dublin win the Leinster title for the first time in seven years in 2002 after making his debut that summer.

The 2011 Player of the Year was primarily used off the bench this year in an impact role. This time last year, many were unsure whether Brogan would return for another year, but Moran thought his influence was crucial in 2015.

"I think more than anything, it was the intelligence and the experience that he brought. To be able to bring on a player like that, with that kind of skill level and decision making in close games was an unbelievable tool for Jim (Gavin) to have at his disposal."
