Andy Moran: "If we get our performance right, we do our jobs, we win the game"

Mayo ended their 21 year Championship drought against Kerry at Croke Park on Saturday with a 2-16 to 0-17 win.

They advance to the All-Ireland final and will play the winners of Dublin and Tyrone on Sunday.

Speaking to Off the Ball's Nathan Murphy after the match, Mayo's Andy Moran said: "The drama of the last couple of weeks, the replays, the extra-times but today was a really good day for Mayo...Anytime you beat the mighty Kerry and beat some of those guys in there in the other dressing room - the talent they have - it's a great day. So today's no different."

Asked whether the build-up to the match had any impact on the squad, Moran said: "To be honest, it was six days, we didn't have time and it's not something we looked into. To be honest, it's not really an issue.

"Aidan is a really good guy to be honest with you and he's willing to sacrifice himself for the team wherever he's put be it full-forward, centre-forward, midfield or full-back and he's a really talented player. I think he probably learned from last week and yeah it just went well. Lee did the same for us up at centre-forward, he did a really good job for us, kept their lines busy and away he went."

As for his own feelings on the season thus far, the Mayo man said: "I'm just enjoying being healthy. You mentioned opening the gym there - it's been a massive benefit to me, getting me out of the car. I was a sales rep there for a couple of years and once I hurt the cruciate it was too hard to get back (to full fitness).

"I came back in 2015 a different player, got my place back in the team and held it so it has been a good couple of years," he added.
