Anthony Nash: "It was some display by both teams"

Cork came out on top of a thrilling Munster Championship match against Waterford to progress to the provincial final after a 0-23 to 1-15 win at Semple Stadium.

Over 33,000 packed into the Thurles venue as the teams served up an exciting clash that has become synonymous with the Munster Hurling Championship.

Speaking to Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan after the match, Cork Keeper Anthony Nash was quick to praise both sides.

"It was some display by both teams," he said, adding: "Conditions out there were unbelievable. I was standing inside the goals and the sweat was running off me.

"It was hard to get your breath inside in the goal so how thirty-something lads ran around that field and gave the energy they gave us was absolutely unbelievable. So look, I think it's a credit, first of all, to the game. They emptied the tanks at half-time and you could see fellas toweling down with ice and everything like that. It was just incredible heat but you know what? It was great and it just sums up the Munster Championship really.

"The lads out the field work tirelessly and we're going into a Munster final with a lot of stuff to work on which is great. All I'd say is that it was a fantastic effort by everyone that togged out on both teams today.

"I actually couldn't describe how hot is was out there but, I must say, it was just a joy to watch at times."

Looking ahead to their next match against Clare, he said: "Look, it's another performance and we're going three weeks time into a Munster final against an awesome Clare team so we're under no illusions."
