Michael Cussen will start at midfield for Cork in Sunday's McGrath Cup opener against Mary Immaculate College in Mallow (2.0).
The Glanmire clubman played football for Cork from 2007 until late 2009 before opting to focus on hurling for the county.
However, he did not feature on Jimmy Barry-Murphy’s panel last year.
Now manager Brian Cuthbert has paired Cussen with Fintan Goold in the footballers’ midfield for the pre-season curtain-raiser against the Limerick outfit.
