Donnchadh Boyle: "If Galway play to the level they can, I think Roscommon will find it too hard going"

Donnchadh Boyle believes Galway will have too much for provincial rivals Roscommon in this weekend's Connacht final.

Boyle joined Oisin Langan and Shane Stapleton on Off the Ball's GAA Podcast to look forward to the match.

Looking ahead to the Connacht Championship decider, he hasn't been impressed with Roscommon this season, saying: "I saw them a couple of times in Division 1 and I honestly thought they just looked out of their depth. Physically, they just weren't up to it.

"I saw them lose to Monaghan and it was just 'men and boys' stuff to be honest. Monaghan have been around the block a long time. They've had talented players, there's no doubt about that. They've had Under-21 success, winning Connacht and stuff like that.

"There's no doubt they have talented players but I just think that on paper, Galway are well ahead. They've a brilliant set of forwards. If the kick-out goes long, Galway will mop up because they have Tom Flynn, Fiontán Ó Curraoin and Paul Conroy knocking around there.

"They even did it against Kildare in the league final and they were much too physical and were very dominant around that third (of the field) particularly at the end, when the game was on the line and was down for decision.

"I just think if Galway play to the level they can, I think Roscommon will find it too hard going.

"The only thing about Galway is that like against Tipperary last year they showed that they can sort of go into a game maybe in the wrong frame of mind, for want of a better term, and then maybe they can get caught.

"Going back to it again - Galway have done more than enough and they deserve the benefit of the doubt," he added.

Oisin and Shane also spoke to Eddie Brennan about Kilkenny's Under-21 win over Wexford and Seanie McGrath on the clash of Cork and Clare and the full podcast can be heard here:
