Dublin O'Byrne Cup manager Paul Clarke has revealed a 27-man panel ahead of the start of their title defence.
Clarke's selection includes just 9 players from last year's winning panel; Ross McGowan, Brian Howard, Emmet O'Conghaile, Colm Basquel, Killian O'Gara, John Brian Carthy, Eoin O'Brien, Ryan Deegan and Niall Walsh.
Basquel and Howard are joined by three other members of the 2017 All-Ireland Under-21 winning panel in Sean McMahon, Glenn O'Reilly and Chris Sallier.
The more experienced Naomh Mearnóg club man Shane Carthy is also included with the opening match less than 24 hours away.
The Boys in Blue play their first match at Parnell Park against Offaly (throw-in: 8pm) who hammered Wexford by 16 points last Saturday.
"It’s brilliant for these young fellas to be going up playing the All-Ireland champions albeit it’s maybe their second string team or whatever," commented Faithful County boss Stephen Wallace after the win.
"But, look, it’s Parnell Park under lights. Parnell Park under lights is always special. There’ll be a big Dublin crowd there for the first outing since winning the All-Ireland. It’ll be a big test but that’s where every young Offaly footballer should aspire to be.
“Go up and play the All-Ireland champions and test yourself and see where you’re at. If we beat Dublin, we beat them but I’m not expecting to win the O’Byrne Cup."
Dublin travel to Enniscorthy on Sunday to face Wexford (throw-in: 2pm) in their second Group 1 match with the top team in all four groups progressing to the semi-finals which will be played on the weekend of January 13/14 while the decider will take place on the following weekend.
