Kilkenny won their first Under-21 Leinster Hurling Championship title since 2012 on Wednesday after a dominant display against Wexford.
Manager Eddie Brennan joined Oisin Langan and Shane Stapleton on Off the Ball's GAA Podcast to talk about how he has adapted to his managerial role since hanging up his boots.
"I suppose myself personally, I enjoy reading sports books and different books," he said, adding: "One of the books which I've read was Rudi Giuliani's one as the mayor of New York through 9/11. One of the little nuggets that stuck with me from his book was the sign on his table that said 'I'm responsible' and in a way, as I see it as manager, that's my job.
"And, my job is not alone to get 15 on the field and get them tuned in but also to get numbers 31 and 32 buying in and giving them hope of playing and a realistic chance of playing.

"I suppose when you're a manager it encompasses a hell of a lot and last year maybe I didn't fully appreciate that and fully understand that. Whereas this year you're understanding that a bit more, like anything as a player, you learn as you go along and it's the same with this.
"There's times there on the sideline - and I'd be lying if I said there wasn't- against Westmeath there where I said 'ah please no, don't happen again' It's just that what happens.
"I suppose for me, the big thing I find is that you have to keep your emotions in check and not get caught up in the occasion whereas the players can do that. Like I said there, players focus on themselves and whereas you have to look at the bigger picture," he added.
