Enda McGinley presents three scenarios for the Tyrone vs Dublin match

As reigning All Ireland champions, Dublin are favourites to reach another Croke Park decider on the third Sunday of September.

But the noises around the place are not ruling Tyrone out with many giving them a decent chance of being able to overturn the Dubs after a positive championship campaign so far as they show signs of progress from last season.

Progress or not, this is the biggest test Mickey Harte's side will have faced so far this year and that leads to uncertainty as ex-Tyrone footballer Enda McGinley outlined when he joined us on Off The Ball to preview the match.

"We really don't know bottom line where this Tyrone is at. We have no hard evidence. We have lots of speculation," he said.

"We know from their defensive tactic that Dublin have struggled with that in the past. We know with their pace, their physicality and the amount of preparation that they put in that they are a top team in that regard.

"But in terms of their scoring threat, we don't know if that counts against the top teams because we haven't seen it. In terms of their scoring forwards, we don't know if they count against top teams because we haven't seen it.

"And in terms of their defensive shield, we don't know if that works against a team that has so many sharp shooters like Dublin, so there are so many unknowns."

McGinley boils the result down to three likely scenarios.

"So, for me this game could go any number of three ways. It could be a hammering. Dublin could hammer Tyrone. That's a possibility. I think it's a small possibility but it is possible," he said.

"I think the most likely thing is a Dublin victory by a number of points and then there is the possibility that Tyrone can pull this off. So I suppose that's why it's so intriguing and why it's generated so much chat. But in terms of my confidence, I just don't know where I am."

McGinley joined Conor McKeon of The Herald as well as Ger and Dave and they debated the merits and likelihood of Diarmuid Connolly starting for Dublin after his lengthy absence through suspension.
