Derry 1-17 Waterford 0-13

There were four All-Ireland senior football qualifiers down for decision on Saturday, with Longford, Laois, Sligo and Derry all progressing to the second round.

Longford reaffirmed their status as qualifier experts with a 9th consecutive first round qualifier victory. Denis Connerton's side executed a five-point victory over Louth after building up a four-point lead at half-time.

Laois were five points up after the first quarter of their match against Wicklow, but were dealt a blow when captain Stephen Attride was dismissed with a black card.

Wicklow hit two goals to bring themselves back into the tie in the closing minutes, but Laois had built a healthy enough lead to take them over the line.

Sligo managed to come through their fixture against Antrim, despite leaking two goals. An impressive tally of 22 points gave them a winning margin of six points in the end.

Meanwhile, a Danny Heavron goal proved to be the decisive score for Derry, as they edged out Waterford with seven points to spare.
