It was routine work for Dublin in the end, but Carlow put up a strong contest in this Leinster quarter-final clash at O'Moore Park.
There was a 12 point margin in the full-time scoreline but Carlow were in contention for much of the game, with just three scores separating the sides at half-time.
Turlough O'Brien's side were guilty of some wayward shooting at times, and the loss of the influential Brendan Murphy to a second yellow card left the underdog side with too high a mountain to scale.
Dean Rock finished with six points from frees, while Ciaran Kilkenny chipped in with three points to give Dublin just enough breathing space in the concluding stages, and send them through to the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Dublin's Diarmuid Connolly could be facing retrospective disciplinary action for a clash with the linesman in the second half.
