'Time is right' for Galvin to call it a day with Limerick

Limerick’s John Galvin has announced his retirement from inter-county football.

The Cratloe (formerly Croom) clubman played in five Munster finals during a 15-year career, and was widely rated as one of the best midfielders in the game.

He told the Limerick Post: “The time is right for me now I think. This has not been an easy decision, but I know that I have made the right call to move on.

“I’ll continue to play with Cratloe for the coming season.”

Former county colleague Eoin Barry tweeted his own tribute to Galvin today.

Meanwhile, Kildare's Michael Foley has opted off the Lilywhites’ panel for 2015.

The 30-year-old former All Star cited work commitments as the reason.
