Galway's Johnny Glynn may still make an appearance in the Connacht championship after all

Galway hurler Johnny Glynn might still yet line out in this year's Connacht championship, but perhaps not in the marron and white colours of his native county.

Glynn has been residing in New York since shortly after Galway suffered their second All-Ireland final defeat in three years.

And the latest reports from the Big Apple, are telling us that Glynn has been training with the New York football team as they look towards their first round Connacht clash against Roscommon on May 1.

The newly appointed Galway manager Michael Donoghue has said that the door remains open for Glynn's return and has previously told Irish sports media, that he has spoken to Glynn on a few occasions.

And although no formal announcement has been made to confirm Glynn's complete withdrawal from the Galway hurling panel, it seems as though the impressive forward is switching to the big ball for 2016.

Speaking about Glynn's addition to the New York set-up, manager Justin O'Halloran said they expect to have Glynn on board for the Roscommon game and seems impressed with his effort so far.

"He's training away with us, he's a big strong athlete and there is loads of football in him.''

Fellow Galway natives, Michael Lundy and Johnny Duane have also assimilated into the New York squad. Both served under Kevin Walsh last year in Galway's 2-18 to 0-08 win over New York.
