Harte strikes late to earn Galway replay

Dublin 0-20
Galway 1-17

Dublin and Galway will meet once again in the Leinster SHC after playing out an enthralling draw at Croke Park this afternoon.

Galway started the brighter of the two sides racing to a three point in the opening 15 minutes, but Dublin’s sharpshooter, David Treacy, kept them in touch with three excellent points.

Joseph Cooney delivered the first hammer blow with a goal on 18 minutes after he broke through the Dublin defence and fired home from close range.

Galway, however, took their foot off the gas allowing Dublin to peg back with a couple of excellent points, trailing by a solitary point at the break.

Mark Schutte drew Dublin level just after the restart and began to pull away with five points in the opening 10 minutes of the second half.

Unlike Royal County Down this weekend, the elements played little part in a cold but sunny afternoon in the capital and the set piece takers took advantage of this with frees flying over from dead ball situations.

The final 10 minutes remained quite nip and tuck with both sides exchanging points, but it was the unerring Treacy who would be left with a free right at the death to put Dublin two points ahead and out of reach.

An uncharacteristic wide from the Cuala man, however, left the door wide open for Aidan Harte to level the scores, which he duly obliged.

Harte slotted over with seconds left and the referee signalled both sides would meet again next week.
