Here's how mistakes of the past are haunting Cork hurling today

As we discussed earlier, Cork's recent record at underage hurling level is extremely poor when it comes to success.

And according to Denis Walsh of The Sunday Times, they are paying for the intransigence of their past approach to development squads.

Speaking on Off The Ball, alongside former Clare star Jamesie O'Connor, in the wake of Cork's defeat to Galway in the All-Ireland quarter-finals, Walsh pointed out the past mistakes which are having a present effect.

"The problem for Cork is that they were very slow out of the blocks with development squads and that streamlining of underage talent and hothousing of underage talent. There was actually resistance to the idea of development squads in Cork up to six or seven years ago, by which time all the other Munster counties had their house in order. I mean, Waterford's success now is no coincidence, Clare's success is no coincidence," he said, adding that the county is starting to "get its act together" at underage level.

Jamesie and Walsh also gave their takes on the match from a Galway perspective.
