James Horan: Mayo need to create chaos at Dublin's restarts

James Horan believes that if Mayo are to lift Sam on Sunday they cannot afford to not contest Dublin's kick outs and they need to find a way to disrupt Cluxton's distribution from the back.

"If Mayo concede that kick out, that means you're giving them a whole pile of scores. That's essentially what the numbers tell you, plus it will allow Dublin to get into their flow, like they did against Tyrone.

"If Mayo push up on them, try and put as much pressure as possible on Stephen Cluxton, try to fill the pockets where your data is telling you they're trying to put them, out to the sideline to the half forward catching them so that their wing back can come on to them.

"What that will do is, when the Mayo wing backs do push up on it, that means the structure is gone. So that if Dublin even do win it they won't be able to go on into their natural pattern of play where they're spreading it wide because it will be chaos," he told Off The Ball.

"You'll have immediate tackling happening. Yes, you'll have one Mayo guy cutting back to hold the fort, but it will happen in an area of the field, the tackling and the turnovers will happen in an area of the field where it hasn't happened to Dublin before," the former Mayo boss added.

While he concede that this would be a "high risk" strategy, he believes that it is, "definitely worth a punt because it will shake up the pattern of the game."
