Job done for Micheál Donoghue as Galway progress to Leinster final

Galway produced a shooting exhibition at O'Moore Park in Portlaoise this afternoon as they ran out 33 points to 1-11 winners against Offaly.

Micheál Donoghue's side made light work of their Leinster SHC semi-final opponents and will now meet Wexford in the final on July 2nd.

Speaking after the game, Donoghue said his side know they will have to refocus for Davy Fitzgerald's resurgent side.

"We've played them in the league, but our focus was on taking each game as it comes up," he told Midlands 103 Radio.

"For the last few weeks the focus has been on Offaly and for the next few weeks we'll be preparing for a Leinster final.

"The objective was to come in, win the game and get to the Leinster final. The lads worked hard for the last couple of weeks and thankfully we came away with the win."

Donoghue praised his players for 'readjusting' to Offaly's defensive set-up and their shooting to run up such an enormous tally.

"Coming down we thought Offaly might set up with a sweeper, but then they set up with two in the first half.

"[It's a] testament to our boys who readjusted themselves and had to go shooting from distance. They acknowledged that and took the scores when they presented themselves."

He also mentioned how important it was to avoid the qualifiers route, which already features reigning All-Ireland champions Tipperary and Kilkenny.

"From the early rounds we knew that there were going to be a lot of big teams in that. It was a big thing for us to try and avoid. From our perspective though today, it was about winning today and moving forward."
