John Kiely: "The story of the game is the performance of both sides."

Limerick manager John Kiely says his team need to improve in all facets of their game, despite admitting the game was a fantastic advertisement for hurling.

The limerick manager joined OTB's Dave McIntyre after his side drew with Cork in round three of the round-robin Munster Championship yesterday.

Kiely was pleased with the efforts of his side, and said both teams should be very pleased with their commitment.

"Just need to keep improving, overall, the energy levels were there. It was a better performance than it was against Tipp, even though it was a completely different type of game.  I think both teams, to be honest, gave a fantastic account off themselves, and they can be very proud of their efforts. It was a fantastic game of hurling.

Kiely alluded to the fact that if the game wasn't under the new Championship format we wouldn't have seen such a competetive and thrilling game.

"I think it's reflective of what this Championship format has pulled together. So, I'm very happy with it. That's about it,' said Kiely.

The Galbally man's side played the majority of the game with 14 men after Aaron Gillane was dismissed in the first half. Kiely says there's no consistency with the decisions.

"No, no. I haven't seen it back on tape. I've no comment on that. I was disappointed in it, I just felt in comparsion to the incident with Richie McCarthy and Conor McCann, that it didn't seem to be consistent.

Kiely says he doesn't want the red card to be the story of the game. He says the game should be remembered for the thrilling encounter it was.

"I don't want that to be the story of the game, tonight, It shouldn't be. If it is, it's wrong. The story of the game is the performance of both sides out there tonight. It was such a fantastic game of hurling."
