Kerry survive late Tyrone rally to advance to All Ireland Final

Kerry survived a late Tyrone comeback to book their place in the All-Ireland football final.

A goal from Peter Harte in the 60th minute brought the Ulster side back within a point and Mark Bradley levelled shortly after, but Kerry’s class and experience told as they scored the final four points to book their place in the decider once again.

Kerry led by a single point at the break, 0-08 to 0-07, but Tyrone would feel hard done by as they let two goal chances go abegging.

Johnny Buckley was the Kingdom's standout performer with 0-4 from play, in particular during the period that they had to steady the ship early on after Marc O Se’s 15th-minute black card.

Peter Harte’s penalty with 10 minutes to play to set up a grandstand finish in an enthralling encounter, but the champions finished strong to ensure that they will defend their crown against either Dublin or Mayo on 20th September.

The game did not lack controversey and in the closing minutes referee Maurice Deegan made some questionable calls. The first of which was a black card for Tyrone's Ronan McNamee.

Tyrone could also feel aggrieved at a penalty shout that went against them as when the game was in the melting pot their calls for a penalty fell on deaf ears, and in fact they were penalised for overcarrying.

In the end, a win by a score of 01-8 to 1-11 was enough to see the men from the Kingdom through in what is already being talked about as another classic chapter to this fantastic rivalry.
