"My conscience is clear. I didn't flop": Aidan O'Shea hits back after diving accusations

Mayo star Aidan O'Shea has said he received "unfair" criticism after he won a penalty against Fermanagh last weekend in the Football Qualifiers in Castlebar.

The Breaffy midfielder was speaking to Sky Sports on Saturday evening after Mayo defeated Kildare to advance to the final round of the Qualifiers. Despite starting the game in the half-forward line, O'Shea failed to score in the nine-point win.

"The world of social media, and everything like that, it's going to be all over the place. The disappointing part was that we had one camera angle on the thing", O'Shea said of the aftermath of last week's incident with Che Cullen.

"The national broadcaster only brought one camera down here [to Castlebar]. It was disappointing that there was only one angle to show it. Everybody gets to see something in a flash second. My conscience is clear. I didn't flop. It's probably more difficult for my family over the last couple of days."

The 25-year-old was adamant, one week on about the incident in McHale Park.

"I just dont think I dived, that's the bottom line. Unfortunately, I've seen people having a cut at me, that's alright. I can be judged and criticised fairly. I have no problem with that. I just felt it was probably unfair during the week. It's behind me now."

Mayo will now play in Round 4B of the Football Qualifiers against the losers of the Leinster of Ulster Football Championship Finals.
