Galway's hurlers won't have any home games in the Leinster Championship, it has been revealed.
Galway joined the Leinster set-up in 2009, and claimed the title in 2012, but have yet to repeat that success thanks to the dominance of Kilkenny. They have made it to the final three times since then, but were unable to overcome the Cats on two occasions, while they lost out to Dublin in 2013.
Since joining, Galway have always travelled for their games in the province, and will continue to do so this coming season.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, chairman John Horan said: "That's how people in Leinster feel. They are doing their bit, just the body of the meeting says no and it's a democracy and they feel strongly about it."
However, he noted that that Galway weren't left short as a result, and that they received an extra "top-up" for not being able to play in front of their home crowd.
"Galway do get financial recompense over and above everyone else in Leinster for the fact they are in the championship, so they do get a grant every year as they don't get a home game in Galway.
"There is consideration given to them. It's not just a case that we are not going to Galway, and there you are. They have been looked after. They got €20k per year for the last couple of years, which other Leinster counties wouldn't have.
"They get their travel expenses as well. There is a €20,000 top up that they've been given. That is the story that is not told."
Horan also stated that there would be no change when it comes to the inclusion of Galway's minor or U-21 sides, who will remain outside the Leinster Championship.
When it comes to football, Horan revealed that the decision on a venue for the quarter-final game between Dublin and Carlow or Wexford would be made next month at the meeting of the CCC.
Noting that the Nowlan Park game against Laois had been a great success, he added that the option to host a game there was "open to discussion and will be every year."
