Pairc Ui Chaoimh to be open in time for 2017 Munster finals

Cork's Páírc Uí Chaoimh will be available to host next year's Munster hurling and football finals.

Work on the Cork stadium is ongoing, and officials say it's due to be completed in June of 2017.

The renovated stadium will have a maximum capacity of 45,000 and plans for their priority ticketing scheme were outlined today by the GAA at the launch of the stadium’s Premium Level Ticket Scheme.

"The “PRIORITY at Páirc Uí Chaoimh” scheme is limited to 2,000 seats which are located at the second tier of the South Stand and are priced at €6,500 for a ten-year ticket," the Gaelic Games governing body explains.

This week, Pairc Ui Chaoimh was also named on the 'Long List' of stadiums for the 2023 Rugby World Cup as part of Ireland's bid to host the tournament.

Ireland have entered the 'Candidate' phase of the selection and today the IRFU put forward the stadiums which they hope will host the competition in seven years time.

The GAA has placed its grounds at the disposal of the tournament which the IRFU describe as a "key factor in Ireland's ability to bid for the tournament".
