Pat Donnelly: "Everything is looking positive from a Limerick perspective"

Limerick will meet Kilkenny in the Bord Gais Energy All-Ireland Under-21 final after beating Galway in a pulsating match on Saturday.

The Treaty Men won by 2-23 to 2-19 at Semple Stadium and speaking to Off the Ball's Oisin Langan after the match, Limerick manager Pat Donnelly said: "Any win is a great win. We'd have taken a point in a poor game but to win a good game of hurling, the way we won it makes it all the more pleasing."

"We were getting panicky, we knew when we got the goal, I honestly thought we were going to do the same and go and attack more. It fed into the players mentality as well. Galway, in fairness, went up and scored a goal immediately but look, we brought on a few subs and I think looking back at it now, that was crucial. They made a huge contribution to the last period of the game.

"We got stronger as the game has gone on. A lot of preparation, over 80 sessions since last November so it has to come out somewhere and that last period, we were very strong. We missed one or two chances but in fairness, the lads dug deep and got the scores when they were needed.

"A lot of our combination play was very good. The only thing that was disappointing was in the first half, in the middle third, we were under pressure. We were under pressure there and weren't getting down to win the dirty ball and Galway seemed to be coming away with a lot of it but I think we rectified that at half-time.
