Pat Horgan: "We didn't show what we were capable of last year"

Cork claimed the Munster title on Sunday after overcoming Clare in a lively affair at Semple Stadium in Thurles.

The Rebels recorded a 1-25 to 1-20 win over the Banner to claim the provincial title having previously seen off the challenges of Tipperary and Waterford.

Patrick Horgan scored a late point which helped seal the win and speaking afterwards to Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan, he said: "It's a great feeling obviously. We went a really, really tough route and we beat three really good sides but we know we're a really good side as well when we turn up and we said we'd all just knuckle down and see how far we could get.

"And, obviously now, we're after winning a cup so we'll try and push on to a another level now and maybe squeeze as much as we can out of the air and we'll just try and get better for the next day as well.

"We had one bad year last year maybe. We didn't show what we were capable of last year and we know we're better than that and thankfully it came together the last couple of months."

Looking to the future and a shot at All-Ireland glory, Horgan said: "We've our sights set on training on Tuesday. Winning Munster is fantastic, we beat three great sides. We're going to be playing a semi-final in five weeks - that's too far away to be thinking about.

"We've training, we've club championship next week so that's all we're going to focus on and we'll try to get the best out of ourselves for that and we'll see after that then.

"Any time we've had a chance we've got a club game in just to give fellas a break...when you go back to the club game, you're hungry."
