Peadar Healy: "We'll have to go back to the drawing board now"

Cork manager Peadar Healy believes Kerry were well worth their win against his side in the Munster Championship final in Killarney on Sunday.

Kerry dominated the match from the off against their great rivals and eventually ran out 1-23 to 0-15 winners at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Speaking to Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan after the match, Healy said he had no complaints with the result.

"There's no excuse, the better team won on the day," he said, adding: "From the throw in, they went four or five points ahead before we got our first score on the board.

"We came into it just before half-time and usually we kick on in the second half but we still felt at half-time we were in with a chance. We were only down by three or four points but we had missed a few goals chances.

"You can't afford to miss goal chances against Kerry. Now, start of the second half, they kicked on again with three or four points...they're very clinical in front of goal.

"They're a resilient lot but look we'll have to go back to the drawing board now and start preparing for the All-Ireland series now," he added.

Looking ahead to the challenge of the qualifiers and how Cork might turn things around, he said: "Look, we have to go back to the drawing board and see where the hell we can improve. Kerrigan got a bit of game time today and Aidan Walsh got another game under his belt but that performance won't do going into the qualifiers if you're going to meet big teams like Donegal and Mayo.

"For whatever reason, it's just not happening at the moment. Maybe, if we got a big win, that would give them some confidence," he added.
