POLL: Would you like to see combined county teams?

Last night on Off The Ball, Dublin City University professor Niall Moyna told us that combining county teams is one of the only solutions to the lack of competitiveness at the highest level of inter-county GAA.

As DCU's football manager acknowledged, to some "it's a sacrilege to say that" given the long tradition even less successful counties have built up.

However, as part of a wider debate about the strain on players, Moyna was making a point about the lack of teams capable of winning an All-Ireland, with a maximum of four or five counties having realistic ambitions of claiming the Sam Maguire trophy.

The examples of combining Armagh and Monaghan, and Sligo and Donegal were given, with Moyna suggesting the field be narrowed down to 18 teams.

Would you be in favour of amalgamating counties? Or do you want to see other solutions?
