Throughout the 2018 GAA season here on OTB AM, we’ll be monitoring and rating the best footballers in the country and at the start of each month, we’ll release our Top 10.
January’s Power Rankings chart was compiled by a divided Team OTB - ten of us were asked to provide our own Top 10. 28 players received a nomination from nine counties.
The 100 votes were then broken down, and a Top 10 emerged...
Five Dubs, two Mayo men, and one player each from Kerry, Donegal and Monaghan.
Former Meath captain Anthony Moyles was in studio this morning as we launched the Top 10 and immediately had a few recommended changes - namely moving Brian Fenton up the chart, dropping Con O’Callaghan for Mayo’s Kevin McLoughlin and drafting in Stephen Cluxton straight to number one.
"I’d have Cluxton number one, because if I’m Jim Gavin, when Cluxton retires, I retire. People say ‘the quarterback and things like that’, but that’s just it, that’s his importance."
At the start of each month, the OTB AM audience and GAA contributors across the show will get the chance to alter the power rankings chart - the next edition will be released at the start of the National Football League.
