"Probably the worst thing I ever did was play against Cork in one of my first games and score 2-12" - Joe Canning

Joe Canning joined Ger and Wooly in studio this evening and talked about the All-Ireland heartbreak, pressure on him to succeed and not shying away from criticism.

"You always feel pressure" he said explaining his role within the squad, "I always feel that there is pressure on me to perform.

"You saw this year, when I hit eight or nine wides against Cork, you saw all the negativity of that and people said that I wasn't performing.

"Again, against Tipperary I must have hit about six or seven wides and that was zoned in on. All of a sudden everyone was talking about that and my performance.

Canning shed light on one of the games that have caused him to endure such huge pressure.

"Probably the worst thing I ever did was play against Cork in one of my first games and score 2-12" he admitted.

"It seems that if I'm not scoring 2-12 everyday, there's someone on my back."

He also explained just how difficult this year's All-Ireland defeat turned out to process.

"We did well this year and we came so close, but it's hard to put your finger on it. I haven't watched the match since, I don't really want to.

"People say you learn a lot from losing. I don't really like to look at those games though."
