1982 saw Mick O'Dwyer's Kerry looking for five All-Ireland titles in-a-row only for Offaly to ruin the party.
Eugene Magee masterminded the shock defeat and he told Dave McIntyre: "It's difficult for the younger generation especially to remember.
"In 13 years there, in 1974 through '86, Kerry won eight All-Ireland's and Dublin won four and Offaly won one. Nobody else was anywhere near it. It was an extraordinary time. People talk about the domination of Dublin now which is correct but it pales into insignificance compared to that.

"The whole of Ireland were only interested in Kerry and Dublin and nobody else. We managed to sneak in there. We played in five Leinster finals in-a-row which I don't think had ever happened to Offaly before and we won the middle three.
"So, it was a gradual process. It's often mentioned that the progress of the Offaly team in '82 started off in the first round of the Leinster Championship and each round, after we advance one place, it took five years until we could do that."

1982 also saw Ireland win rugby's Triple Crown and Ollie Campbell reflected on the famous day.

It was "only the fifth Triple Crown in Ireland's History," he said, Adding: "And also it was the first Triple Crown that Ireland had won in Lansdowne Road - the oldest international rugby ground in the world."
Ireland headed into that tournament on a woeful run of form as Campbell recalled: "Leading into 1982, believe it or believe it not...in the previous eight games going into that Championship of 1982, we had lost seven and drawn one!"
