Reports: Brian Cuthbert steps down as Cork senior football manager

Brian Cuthbert has stepped down as Cork senior football manager, according to reports in The Irish Examiner this morning.

The paper writes that the decision was made after losing two Munster finals to Kerry and a League decider against Dublin.

The misery was compounded for the Rebels last weekend, when they were condemned to an eight-point defeat against Kildare and dumped out of he All-Ireland series.

There has been no official statement from the county board as of yet, but it is believed the Bishopstown man will not seek another term after his existing deal expires.

Cuthbert took charge in 2013 as a replacement for Conor Counihan and was unlucky to be crowned Munster champions, before a late Fionn Fitzgerald point forced a replay, which Kerry subsequently won.
