Seamus Harnedy: "That was one hell of a game"

Cork forward Seamus Harnedy paid tribute to Tipperary after they pushed the Rebels to the brink in an exciting Munster Championship match on Sunday.

Cork eventually prevailed 2-27 to 1-26 in a free-flowing encounter at Semple Stadium in Thurles.

"GAA has been an up-and-down thing for us the last couple of years," Harnedy told Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan afterwards. "Today was one of the good days, thank god. Fairplay to Tipp, that was one hell of a game and I'm fairly tired after that.

"They pushed us all the way. Even when Mick Calahane got a great goal there towards the end - they came back at us again.

"We're just delighted to be in the next round. Just go back at it now again and the thing is now; consistency. Keep going again."

Reflecting on last year's disappointing showing from his side, he said: "You know the very best teams in the world have ups and downs. Last year we couldn't get going and struggled a bit.

"But in fairness to the lads, they put the shoulder to the wheel all year. We've just kept at it and at it. We just kept trying to get more and more out of ourselves."

Cork advance to play Waterford in the Munster Championship semi-final on the 18th June.
