Sean Cavanagh: "Getting the early scores probably knocked the stuffing out of them"

Tyrone recorded a comfortable eleven point win over Derry in the Ulster Senior Football Championship at Celtic Park on Sunday.

It finished 0-22 to 0-11 in the Red Hand's favour and the victory was Tyrone's third straight win over their rivals in the Championship.

Speaking to Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan after the match, Tyrone stalwart Sean Cavanagh said: "It's a bit surreal for me. I suppose I've spent most of my career coming to Celtic Park losing and drawing.

"I suppose the last couple of times we've come here it's probably been comfortable - is probably been the best way of putting it.

"I suppose we have to be assured that it doesn't lull us into a false sense of security because we know we've got a hell of a battle coming in three weeks time.

"Derry will probably be disappointed in the way they performed there today. We were expecting a physical Ulster encounter and maybe it just didn't materialise.

"Getting the early scores probably knocked the stuffing out of them to a certain extent and with nice playing conditions and some of the talent and some of the speed that we had coming off the bench whenever we needed to kick on - we got those scores and it probably worked out a bit easier than what we anticipated," he added.

A clash with Donegal awaits them in the provincial semi-final.
