Six major talking points ahead of the remaining county finals

There are six football and hurling county championships up for grabs today with replay battles and sibling rivalry taking centre stage.

Cork Senior Football Championship final - Castlehaven v Nemo Rangers

After last week's tense encounter ended in a draw, Nemo Rangers and Castlehaven will have to do it all over again today in the Cork Senior Football final. Castlehaven led at the break the last day on a 0-07 0-05 scoreline only for Nemo and Cork veteran Paul Kerrigan to reverse matters shortly after the restart with his second point. The remainder of the game was something of a stalemate with shots from Mark Collins (Castlehaven) and Barry O’Driscoll (Nemo Rangers) both going wide to leave the sides inseparable at 0-10 each.

Throw-in for this replay is 3.30pm in Páirc Uí Rinn

Mayo Senior Football Championship final - Breaffy v Castlebar Mitchels

In a repeat of the 2013 final, neighbouring clubs Breaffy and Castlebar Mitchels will grapple in the Mayo Senior Football final. Castlebar prevailed on that occasion 1-11 to 0-08 after suffering consecutive county final defeats in 2010 and 2011.

And as if the prelude to this final wasn't intriguing enough, brothers Tommy and Eoghan Reilly will be playing on opposing sides. Eoghan will don the yellow and red of Castlebar while Tommy will stand alongside Aidan O'Shea and the rest of the Breaffy contingent.

Throw-in for this final is 3pm in MacHale Park

Sligo Senior Football Championship - Curry v St Mary's

One year on from suffering defeat to Tubbercurry last year, St Mary's are back in the Sligo Senior Championship Final. St Mary's were the favourites heading into the fixture that day and they face another resilient prospect in Curry this time who defeated Calry St Josephs in the semi-final 3-7 to 2-11.

Throw-in for this final is 2.30pm at Markievicz Park

Kilkenny Hurling Final - Clara v O'Loughlin Gaels

Family loyalties will also be tethered in this game with brothers Brian and Keith Hogan in opposing corners. The conflict could get even more intense with both brothers likely to be marking each other during this game. Brian, who is an established defender on Brian Cody's Kilkenny side, is expected to line out among the O'Loughlin Gaels defenders while younger sibling Keith normally operates in the forward line for Clara.

Throw-in for this final is 3.15pm at Nowlan Park

Tipperary Senior Hurling Final - Thurles Sarsfields v Nenagh Éire Óg

There is a potential for Sarsfields to come away with a double celebration by the end of today. The seniors will be in the headline act against Nenagh Éire Óg but the Intermediates are also in action in the warm-up fixture. This is the second successive year that Sarsfields have guided their senior and intermediate brigades to county finals which illustrates the depth of talent within the club. The seniors are looking to retain their Tipperary crown while the intermediate side will be keen to atone for last year's defeat to Moyne-Templetuohy

Wexford Senior Hurling Final - Oulart The Ballagh v St Martin's

Having contested every county final bare one since 2004, and claiming three titles in a row between '09 and '13, the odds will understandably favour Oulart The Ballagh ahead of this fixture. St Martin's on the other hand are a side peppered with youthful players, some of them as young as 16 and 17. But those players are backed by underage success at minor and U21 grades.

Throw-in for this final is 3pm in Wexford Park
