Snow Joke - Weather Severely Impacting Sport

It's all very fine if you can set yourself up under a duvet on the couch watching Netflix beside the fire all day, but spare a thought for the sports fixture schedulers trying to plan for cancellations and how to cope with the bad weather.

Due to the severe forecast for the next 48 hours the Ladies Gaelic Football Association has decided to postpone it's Annual Congress, which was due to be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk at the weekend.

It has been rescheduled for the same venue on the weekend of April 27.

Croke Park is drafting a contingency plan in the event that the gaelic football and hurling Allianz League programme at the weekend is hit and will monitor the situation in the next 24 hours with talk that any postponements will play havoc with the plan to leave April free for club fixtures only.

But it's all about perspective and Kildare jockey Katie Walsh seems to have herself well organised for the day ahead anyway.

Despite snow falling in the North East, the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division clash between Dundalk and Limerick did go ahead, with the Louth side emerging 8 nil winners.

Generally when managers blame the referee, ball boys, conditions etc, people throw their eyes to heaven. But in this case the Limerick boys could justifiably blame visibility!

Even the supporters who braved those elements should be getting some kind of reward for attending that fixture.

Given that Met Eireann has issued Status Red weather alerts for Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Meath and Wicklow, expect things to get worse before they get better!
