Tiernan McCann free to play but James Horan's predicting a "Pandora's Box" for Tyrone man

Tyrone's Tiernan McCann may have got his ban for a dive overturned, but James Horan believes he will have to be well prepared for the pressure when he steps back onto the pitch.

The player has been in the national spotlight after an incident in Tyrone's win over Monaghan, but will also be scrutinised again as his county take on Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Ex-Mayo manager James Horan was on Off The Ball tonight alongside ex-Kerry star Darragh O'Cinneide to look ahead to the weekend's game and he touched on the mental test McCann will have to surmount.

"Whichever way it is, this has been an unbelievably difficult time for Tiernan McCann. He made a stupid mistake, we'd all accept that. Now that he's back in, it's a whole other Pandora's box of issues and stress and pressure for him. It's very difficult," he said.

"It depends on the player involved. Some players are more mentally strong than others. That's just the nature of the beast I suppose. Some players can deal with it a bit better but even the really mentally strong players, you have this weight over you. You come into training, you've probably come from a family environment and your friends, they're all talking about it and they're all concerned about you. But even them doing that is raising the issue. But it's constantly on your mind. If you're trying to blank something out of your mind, you're still thinking about it."
