Why is 30,711 the key number for the LGFA this weekend?

Players from all six counties involved in Sunday's TG4 All Ireland Ladies Gaelic Football Finals are united in their appeal to supporters to turn out in record numbers.

Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Waterford, Louth and Scotland have all backed a challenge from LGFA President Marie Hickey to beat the attendance of 30,710 at this year's Women's FA Cup Final at Wembley.

'We want to surpass that and have the biggest attendance at a women's sporting event in Europe this year, and if we can beat our own record of 33,000 at the 2001 Finals, that would be even better again'.

Ciara O'Sullivan (Cork), Sorcha Furlong (Dublin), Aisling Holton (Kildare), Linda Wall (Waterford) and Michelle McMahon (Louth) appeal to supporters in their clubs and counties to attend.

Louth face Scotland in the Junior Final this Sunday at 11.45am. That game is followed by Kildare v Waterford in the Intermediate Final 1.45pm.

The showpiece event is the TG4 All Ireland Senior Championship Final. In a repeat of last years final, the 2014 champions Cork face Dublin. That game throws in at 4pm.
