Round-up of the day's GAA action around the country

There was GAA action taking place around the country this evening in both the Allianz National Hurling and Football Leagues.

A late Paul Mannion goal in the last 10 minutes of Dublin and Donegal's clash in division one of the Allianz National Football League made all the difference this evening as the Boys in Blue won 1-15 to 1-14.

Paul Howard's attempt at a point dropped short in front of Hil 16 and then a mistake by Donegal goalkeeper Shaun Patton gifted Mannion a chance as he dropped the ball in the square as the All-Star palmed it home.

Both sides finished with 14 men as Dublin's John Small and man of the match Donegal captain Michael Murphy were both sent off for second yellow cards following a scuffle in the dying minutes.

That game was part of a doubleheader at HQ where earlier on in the evening Davy Fitzgerald's Wexford beat the Dublin hurlers in Division one of the Allianz National Hurling League.

A week on from beating Kilkenny, the yellowbellies made it three wins from four games with a 2-14 to 0-18 victory.

Mark Fanning scored for the southeast side from the penalty spot in the 31st minute with Jack O’Connor also finding the back of the net in injury time.

Elsewhere in the top tier of the hurling league, Laois beat Carlow at O'Moore Park by a point where the final score was 15 points to 14 to give Eddie Brennan's side their first win of the campaign.

And in Division two of the football league, Cavan beat Fermanagh 2-11 to 1-11 at Brewster Park and they sit top of the table with the victory.

The two goals for the visitors came from play from Padraig Faulkner and Thomas Galligan.
