Amateur champ Sugrue grouped with Westwood and Watson at US Open

James Sugrue will have some esteemed company for the opening two rounds of this week's US Open.

What's turned into the second Major of the year gets underway at Winged Foot in New York on Thursday.

2019 Amateur Champion Sugrue has been grouped with Lee Westwood, and two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson.

The 23-year old Mallow golfer has seen his preparations for the US Open more curtailed than most, with the Mallow and Mullingar Scratch Cups among his handful of outings this year.

Sugrue, Watson and Westwood will tee off at 5.54pm, Irish time, on Thursday evening.

Shane Lowry's US Open gets underway 11-minutes after Sugrue, and the 2019 Open Champion plays alongside Gary Woodland and last year's US Amateur champion, Andy Ogletree.

Rory McIlroy has been grouped with 2013 US Open winner, Justin Rose and Adam Scott. They go out at 1.07pm Irish time.

The 2010 US Open champion Graeme McDowell heads out at 1.18pm in the company of American duo Lucas Glover and Matt Kuchar.
