'Maybe three more defences and sail off into the sunset' - Andy Lee

Andy Lee has suggested that he has about four fights to go before he retires.

Speaking to Off The Ball, he said: "I have thought about [retiring] but I haven't made any decision. I'll fight Billy Joe Saunders and I'm pretty confident I'll beat him. And then in total maybe four more fights. I've always said I want to get out at the top and still relatively young."

He added: "Maybe another three defences then sail off into the sunset".

The 30-year-old also admits that the upheaval caused by Peter Quillin not making weight for Saturday's fight did have an effect on him.

The battle between the two middleweights was meant to be for Lee's world title, but that went out the window, meaning the bout was essentially a friendly.

"All of a sudden, as soon as he misses the weight, your attitude and approach changes. No matter how much you try to stay focused, you can't help but feel affected by it. It was a weird situation and scenario to be in," said Lee.

But as Lee said, there had been doubts about Kid Chocolate's ability to shed weight as the days ticked down.

"It was a weird build-up because Adam [Booth] and I had anticipated him not making the weight because the previous days before the weigh-in, he didn't look drained or drawn in in his cheeks and he looked big physically. When he missed the weight, it came as no surprise."

The Limerick fighter was happy with the draw in the end, although he was disappointed with early mistakes which he feels cost him victory.

He also spoke about his plans to try and bring his potential fight against Billy Joe Saunders to Thomond Park rather than London.
