Bianchi family release update on F1 driver's health

Formula 1 driver Jules Bianchi remains unconscious, but able to breathe unaided, following his crash at the Japanese Grand Prix nearly three months ago.

His family have released an update on his conditions, saying it is very important that he continues his rehabilitation surrounded by loved ones in his home city of Nice in France.

"Jules' neurological status remains unchanged. He is unconscious but able to breathe unaided.

"Whilst there is no significant information to report, we take a great deal of comfort from the fact that Jules continues to fight, as we knew he would, and this has enabled the medical professionals caring for him to commence the planned, but very painstaking, programme of rehabilitation therapy," the statement read.

Bianchi suffered a severe head injury during October's Japanse Grand Prix after his Marussia car collided with a tractor on the edge of the track in wet conditions.

After being treated at Mie General Hospital in Japan, he was then transferred back to France.
