CONFIRMED: Diaz v McGregor 2 set for main event at UFC 200

Conor McGregor will have his shot at redemption when he faces Nate Diaz once again in the main event at UFC 200.

Widely touted as the bout that would headline the Ultimate Fighting Championship's biggest PPV event, the fight will take place at welterweight (170lbs) and not at lightweight.

Diaz handed McGregor his only defeat of his UFC career at UFC 196 when he submitted the Crumlin fighter in the second round with a rear naked choke.

UFC 200 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, 9 July and not in New York, with rumours linking the event with the Big Apple where mixed martial arts was legalised in the last month.

The fight was made official during  ‘UFC Tonight’ broadcast on FOX Sports in the early hours of this morning.

With McGregor once again fighting above the weight class in which he is champion, Jose Aldo will face number one contender Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight (145lbs) crown.

Aldo was beaten last December by the Irishman to lose his title and suffer his first defeat in a decade in the UFC. Edgar, meanwhile, has won five straight fights since a narrow defeat to Aldo in 2013 and the former lightweight champion has positioned himself atop the contenders list.

Several other fights have also been confirmed for the UFC 200 bill, including a heavyweight clash between Travis Browne and Cain Velasquez, as well as the meeting of Johny Hendricks and Kelvin Gastelum.

Gegard Mousasi will take on Derek Brunson, Joe Lauzon faces Diego Sanchez and Takanori Gomi meets Jim Miller.

Ahead of the fight, let's relive one of the best pre-fight interviews The Notorious has ever shared:
