Dustin Johnson stars to collect Saudi International title

World number one Dustin Johnson continued his good form with a two-shot victory in the Saudi International.

The reigning Masters champion held off a number of challengers to claim a two-stroke victory on 15-under-par at the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club.

Having taken a two-shot advantage into the final round, Johnson a solid performance on the final day, though a bogey on the par-three 16th threatened to derail his title ambitions.

However, this was his only blemish and he responded in superb fashion with a birdie on the 17th, before he two-putted on the 18th for a two-shot win.

Victor Perez and Tony Finau both briefly flirted with the lead, while a sparkling final round of 65 also propelled Justin Rose into the conversation.

Cormac Sharvin finished best of the Irish with a final round of 68 helping him into a share of 21st on seven under.

Shane Lowry was two shots further back on five-under while defending champion Graeme McDowell posted a four-round total of one-over-par.

"Conditions, when we started, were really tough," Johnson told Sky Sports after finishing out his round.

"I knew I was hitting it well, I saw the leaderboard a little bit and the guys were playing well, but I kept giving myself plenty of chances.

"I didn't hole any of them but I kept hitting good shots and I finally holed a really nice putt there on 13 and then from there in I just played solid."

Frustrated by his inability to convert on the greens, Johnson was still able to get the job done.

In what is his first win since Augusta, he said he was pleased to be back in the winners enclosure - and to win on the European Tour.

"I don't get to play around the world as much as I'd like to but it's definitely nice to get a win not on my tour and after Augusta to get my first win again.

"Obviously the game is still in really good form and I'm excited about the rest of the year."
